What is E-Waste & Recycling

Electronic waste, e-waste, e-scrap, or Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) describe loosely discarded, surplus, obsolete, or broken electrical or electronic devices. Waste materials generated from using or discarding electronic devices, such as computers, televisions, and mobile phones. E-waste tends to be highly toxic to humans, plants, and animals, and has been known to contaminate water, air and dirt. Discarded electrical devices and components such as cell phones and computers. Electronic equipment that is no longer useful as originally intended, but can be reused or recycled into a new product.

Electronic waste or e-waste is obsolete, broken, or unwanted electronic equipment-computers, laptops, TVs, DVD players, mobile phones, mp3 players etc.. E-waste is produced when the electronic products from our homes, schools, government offices and businesses eventually need to be discarded. While there is no generally accepted definition of e-waste, in most cases, e-waste comprises of relatively expensive and essentially durable products used for data processing, telecommunications or entertainment in private households and businesses.

These Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment's [WEEE] are termed as e-waste. The e-waste is emerging as a major crisis in developing and developed countries. It is categorized into three categories, large home appliances like washing machines, refrigerators, IT and telecom like PCs, laptops and mobiles and small consumer equipment's like toaster, mixer grinder etc. E-Waste is defined as electronic or electrical equipment's/products that have become obsolete because of advancement in technology or changes in fashion.
